Handcrafted from rich black velvet, this rectangular floral purse is adorned with exquisite metallic zardozi embroidery and agate or semiprecious stones. Each embellished flower or leaf contains a cabochon bead or stone at the center and the pattern is beautifully repeated on both sides of the purse. The interior is lined with black satin and has gold trimmed compartments. One snap closure. It has an embroidered short top handle which can be tucked inside the bag to be used as a clutch. No tags but likely made in India and dating to mid 20th century.
Excellent vintage condition. There is a bit of fuzziness around some of the seams, and one petal of one flower shows imperfect wire work (see photo). One bit of gold trim on the interior has come off.
